Lashed fiber cable, conversely, uses a separate galvanized steel or dielectric messenger wire strung between poles for structural support, to which the fiber optic cable is then 'lashed' or tightly bound with lashing wire. Both are effective; the choice depends on span lengths, environmental conditions, and specific NESC requirements.
