High-Density Structured Cabling Deployment For A Commercial IT Environment

High-density telecommunications rack for a commercial IT environment — over 400 Panduit® CAT6 horizontal drops, APC 19" rack, Panduit patch panels and cable management, and a single-mode fiber optic backbone uplink between network closets, engineered and installed by Access Cabling Los Angeles.

High-density Los Angeles commercial IT rack — 400+ Panduit CAT6 drops dressed into overhead conduit and Panduit patch fields on an APC 19" rack, built by Access Cabling.

This hero shot shows the head end of the deployment: hundreds of Panduit CAT6 station cables leave overhead conduit stubs, drop into disciplined horizontal bundles across the top of the APC 19" rack, and land on Panduit patch panels below. Every bundle is combed, tied and routed to maintain proper bend radius, so the client's IT team can trace, service and extend any drop without disturbing the rest of the field.

Project Overview

High-Density Structured Cabling Deployment For A Commercial IT Environment was delivered by Access Cabling for Commercial IT Client in Los Angeles, California.

Solution Overview

Access Cabling Los Angeles designed and installed a high-density structured cabling deployment for a commercial IT environment, centered on a professionally managed APC 19" telecommunications rack. Over 400 Panduit® CAT6 horizontal runs land on Panduit patch panels with disciplined cable management, cross-connected to a single-mode fiber optic backbone that links the network closets. Every cable is terminated, tested, labeled and documented — and the rack was intentionally sized to grow with the business, not to be rebuilt the next time a floor of new users comes online.

Key Benefits

  • Supports 400+ workstation and network drops on a single, professionally managed rack.
  • Clean, serviceable cable management for simplified troubleshooting and faster moves, adds and changes.
  • Reliable single-mode fiber optic backbone between network closets for high-throughput, low-latency uplinks.
  • Improved airflow around active network equipment for longer switch life and better thermal margins.
  • Structured labeling and full documentation the client's IT team can trust for audits and future work.
  • Scalable design with meaningful spare capacity built in — future growth without a complete rebuild.
  • Meets commercial installation standards for enterprise, mission-critical applications.

The Customer Challenge

Deliver a telecommunications infrastructure that supports 400+ workstation and network drops with clean cable management for simplified maintenance, a reliable fiber backbone between network closets, commercial installation standards, and headroom to grow without a complete rebuild.

Engineering Solution

Designed and installed a professionally managed APC 19" rack with 400+ Panduit® CAT6 horizontal runs on Panduit patch panels and cable management, a single-mode fiber optic backbone uplink between closets, structured labeling and documentation, and cable routing that maintains proper bend radius — every drop terminated, tested and documented, with future expansion capacity built into the design.

Installation Process

Access Cabling deployed a licensed field crew operating on a custom schedule schedule. Rack elevations and pathway drawings were engineered up front, cable assemblies prefabricated off-site, and installation phased around Commercial IT Client's active operations to protect uptime.

Testing & Certification

Every copper drop was Fluke DSX-certified to TIA-568 category performance and every fiber link was tested to TIA-568 tier-1 with OTDR trace on the fiber backbone. TIA-606 labels and as-built documentation were delivered with the closeout package.
