In Depth

A closer look at ubiquiti unifi installation

Ubiquiti UniFi installation across California — end-to-end network, WiFi, cameras, and access control from a single admin dashboard. Access Cabling is an experienced UniFi installer with hundreds of commercial deployments across offices, warehouses, restaurants, retail, hospitality, and multi-site chains. Licensed C-10/C-7 (CSLB #992009), 28+ years.

The UniFi stack for commercial

UniFi Network (routing/switching/WiFi), UniFi Protect (cameras and NVR), UniFi Access (door control), and UniFi Talk (VoIP) — all managed from one browser and mobile app. For commercial use we standardize on the Dream Machine Pro Max or Cloud Gateway Ultra for the head-end, Enterprise or Pro Max switches with PoE++, U7 Pro/Enterprise APs, and G5 Pro/Bullet cameras.

Design and survey

Every UniFi deployment starts with a proper RF survey — predictive in Ekahau for new construction, on-site AP-on-a-stick for existing buildings. Placement, channel plan, and TX power are engineered to hit -65 dBm at cell edge and target client density per area. Warehouse and high-density deployments get extra attention.

Segmentation and security

Multi-VLAN design (corporate, guest, BYOD, IoT, cameras, access control), firewall rules between segments, IDS/IPS on the gateway, WPA3 on new SSIDs, guest captive portal, and RADIUS integration where required. Cameras and access on their own VLAN with tight rules.

Cabling and installation

Home-run CAT6 (or CAT6A for Wi-Fi 6E/7) to every AP, camera, and access device. PoE++ switches sized to the total load. Full Fluke certification on every drop. All wire and rack work labeled and documented per TIA-606-B.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Is UniFi good enough for a commercial office?+

Yes — for SMB and mid-market commercial (under about 100 APs and 500 users) UniFi is an excellent choice. Enterprise environments with heavy NAC/RBAC/SLA requirements should evaluate Aruba or Cisco alongside.

How much does a full UniFi deployment cost?+

A typical mid-size office (20,000 sq ft, 12 APs, 3 switches, gateway, 15 cameras, 8 access-control doors) runs $30-50k hardware plus $25-40k installation depending on cabling scope.

Do you install UniFi cameras (Protect)?+

Yes — G5 Pro, G5 Bullet, G5 Turret, and G5 Dome cameras with UniFi Protect NVR or Cloud Key. Integrated with UniFi Access for door-event bookmarking.

Can you migrate from a legacy Cisco or Meraki to UniFi?+

Yes — this is one of our more common projects. We run both networks in parallel during migration and cut over per floor or building with no downtime.

Does UniFi work well for multi-site chains?+

Yes. UniFi Site Manager gives centralized visibility across all sites, with standardized configuration templates and remote management. We deploy identical stacks across chain locations.

Do I need a dedicated NVR for cameras?+

Depends on camera count and retention. Small deployments (under 10 cameras) run on a Cloud Key Gen2 Plus. Larger deployments use a Network Video Recorder (NVR Pro) with RAID storage sized to camera count and retention.

How much does ubiquiti unifi installation cost?+

Ubiquiti UniFi Installation pricing depends on drop count, cable type, pathway complexity, and building conditions. Most commercial projects range from $150 to $350 per drop installed. Request a free site survey for an itemized quote.

Do you provide ubiquiti unifi installation nationwide?+

Yes. Access Cabling is headquartered in California with a nationwide technician network for multi-site rollouts across all 50 states.

Is ubiquiti unifi installation certified and warrantied?+

Every installation is Fluke-tested and certified. Structured cabling installs carry manufacturer warranties of up to 25 years through our Panduit, CommScope, Leviton and Belden partner relationships.
